These Football Chocolate-Covered Strawberries are going to be a TOUCHDOWN for game day parties!

Football Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Are you ready for some football... strawberries?! These Football Chocolate-Covered Strawberries are such a simple and fun treat to share at football parties on game day. With only 3 ingredients, these are your basic chocolate-covered strawberries but with a football twist. No matter what team you're rooting for, everyone will agree that they are a touchdown!

Football Chocolate Covered Strawberries

These Football Chocolate-Covered Strawberries are obviously a no-bake treat, but they also only require 3 ingredients! They are so simple to make, and are perfect for any football event or party. Here's what you'll need:
You will also need a knife, skewers/toothpicks, parchment paper, a microwave-safe bowl (or double boiler), and a piping/Ziploc bag.

Wash the strawberries thoroughly and cut the stems off of the top. Pat them dry with a paper towel. This is SO important, because the chocolate will not stick to the strawberry if there's any moisture.

Stick a cocktail skewer or toothpick into the top of each strawberry.

If you are having trouble with the skewers not staying in place, add a bit of melted chocolate to the end and insert it into the top of the strawberry. Allow the chocolate to harden completely.

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or a double boiler until smooth. Dip the strawberries, one at a time into the melted chocolate until completely coated. Gently tap to remove excess chocolate and place the strawberry back onto the parchment paper.

Allow the chocolate to cool and set completely, which takes approximately 20-30 minutes. To speed up the process, you can place in the refrigerator for a few minutes.

Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. White chocolate can seize up easier than milk chocolate, so be careful to melt it slowly on low heat and stir frequently! Pour the melted chocolate into a small piping bag or Ziploc bag with the end snipped off.

Pipe a line down the center of the front of the strawberry, then add three horizontal lines across it to create the football laces. Allow the chocolate to completely cool and harden.

To give the strawberries some extra flair, tie a small length of green grosgrain ribbon around the skewers. Now they are ready to serve at your football parties!

When refrigerating the chocolate-covered strawberries, they will collect condensation on the surface. To help keep it to a minimum, here's a helpful tip for storage:

  1. Place a paper towel at the bottom of an airtight container.
  2. Sprinkle some baking soda on top of the paper towel. This will help to absorb any extra moisture.
  3. Add another paper towel on top to prevent the baking soda from getting onto the strawberries.
  4. Arrange the strawberries on top of the paper towel. If you need more than one layer, add another paper towel on top of the strawberries and add more. This will help the strawberries to not stick together.
  5. Before serving, allow the strawberries to warm to room temperature.

Servings: 12
Prep Time: 30
 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 12 fresh strawberries
  • 12 oz milk chocolate chips
  • 3 oz white chocolate or almond bark

Directions:

  1. Trim the ends off each strawberry and pat dry.
  2. Place a skewer or toothpick into the top of each strawberry.
     * If the skewer won’t stay in the strawberry, dip the end in melted chocolate and insert it into the top of the strawberry. Allow the chocolate to harden before moving on to the next steps.
  3. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals. Stir well after each interval until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate until it’s fully coated. Gently tap to remove excess chocolate, and then place the chocolate-covered strawberry on a piece of parchment paper to cool.
  5. When the chocolate has hardened, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals. Stir well after each interval until completely melted and smooth.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate into a piping bag (or Ziploc bag), and snip the end off with scissors.
  7. Pipe laces on the front of each strawberry.
  8. Before serving, allow the coating to fully set at room temperature. Speed up the process by placing the strawberries in the refrigerator.

Storage Tips:

  • Refrigerate strawberries in an airtight container for up to 48 hours. Allow them to warm to room temperature before serving.
    * Strawberries are known to "sweat" or collect condensation on the surface when refrigerated. See notes above for helpful storage tips.
  • Freezing strawberries is not recommended, but can be done. Keep the storage time minimal, and serve them frozen. They will become mushy once defrosted.
