These Oreo Turkey Cookies are a simple Thanksgiving treat to be thankful for!
Are you looking for a simple treat to share for Thanksgiving? These Thanksgiving Oreo Turkey Cookies could not be any easier! Requiring only six ingredients, these cookies are the perfect Thanksgiving party treat. Not only is this a fun dessert, but it's also kind of a craft! Kids will love getting to help create their own turkey cookies and eating them afterward. I hope you get inspired to give this recipe a try!
*You can actually use any variety of Oreo cookie (regular or DoubleStuf)!
Separate 24 Oreo cookies. Place the 12 halves with the cream onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Spoon a small dollop of chocolate onto the top half of the Oreo cream.
*I recommend assembling/decorating 4-6 cookies at a time so that the chocolate does not set before you are done.
While the chocolate is still warm, arrange 5 candy corn pieces on top to create the turkey feathers. Gently press them down into the chocolate. Add a little more chocolate on top (if needed) and place the other cookie half on top.
Immediately top the dabs of chocolate with two candy eyes. Gently press them down so that they stick well to the cookies.
Add one more drop of chocolate in the center, just below the eyes. Immediately place a Reese’s Pieces half on top for the turkey beak.
Pipe a little bit of red icing next to one side of the beak to create the turkey’s wattle/snood.
