These festive Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies are a soft & chewy treat that Santa (and everyone else) are sure to love!
"Kitchen Sink" cookies are some of the easiest to make, and there are so many ways to customize them to suit your tastes. Like the name implies, you add basically "everything but" to these cookies for a salty sweet treat. You can also switch out ingredients to make them festive for the holidays! This recipe for Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies have pops of vibrant red and green M&Ms and sprinkles, and is so simple to make for Christmas cookie swaps and holiday parties. Santa and everyone else on your Christmas list are going to love these Christmas cookies!
Follow the recipe below to mix up the cookie dough. This is a pretty typical chocolate chip cookie base, and should be fairly fluffy and smooth once everything has been mixed together.
Now it's time to pack this dough with "everything except the kitchen sink". It may seem weird when you first see the mix-ins listed in this recipe, but once you bit into a cookie you'll understand! There are so many sweet and salty combinations to create all different kinds of kitchen sink cookies. Since this is a Christmas version of the kitchen sink cookie recipe, I made sure to use holiday M&Ms and sprinkles!
Here are a few mix-in ingredient ideas to get you started:
- Sprinkles - jimmies, nonpareils, or get festive with holiday sprinkles
- Chocolate Chips: milk chocolate, semi-sweet, white
- Butterscotch Chips, Peanut Butter Chips
- Caramel Bits
- Toffee Bits
- M&Ms
- Potato Chips - regular, ruffled
- Graham Crackers
- Pretzels
- Nuts: peanuts, pecans, walnuts
- Shredded Coconut
- Dried Cranberries, Raisins
Use a cookie scoop and roll the dough into balls. This is totally optional, but you can add additional mix-ins, like M&Ms on the top. The cookies will spread while baking, so place them about 2-3 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies until the edges are golden brown. For a soft and chewy cookie, do not over-bake!
After removing the cookies from the oven, let them sit for about 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to cool completely.
