These Easy Oreo Bat Cookies are a spooky Halloween treat that everyone will love!
If you're looking for a spooky-sweet, no-bake Halloween treat, do I have news for you! These Halloween Oreo Bat Cookies are not only adorable, but the recipe is easy enough for kids to do on their own. Requiring only 3 ingredients, these simple cookies are the perfect Halloween party treat. I hope you get inspired to whip up a batch for your own "cauldron" of bats!
*You can actually use any variety of Oreo cookie! Just keep in mind that the regular Oreo flavors don't have as much cream as the Double Stuf (hence, the name), so you may need to use a bit more chocolate to hold everything together.
Immediately top the dabs of chocolate with two candy eyes. Gently press them down so that they stick well to the cookies.
Separate 20 Oreo cookies so that you have 40 halves. Carefully scrape the cream off of 20 halves with a butter knife and set aside. Place the other 20 halves with the cream onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Distribute the excess cream onto the halves with cream.
Carefully break the cream-less cookie pieces in half using your hands or a thin knife. Don't worry if they aren't perfect and break a bit unevenly. Pair up the each piece with another that is similar in size and shape.
Place 2 of the cookie "wings" on top of each cream-topped cookie half with the ends of the wings near the center. Gently press the wings into the cream to help them stay in place.
Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or a double boiler until smooth. Use a spoon to add a small dollop of chocolate to the center of each cookie.
Separate 10 more Oreo cookies so that you have 20 halves. Carefully scrape the cream off of all halves with a butter knife. Top each bat cookie with one of these halves, and gently press down so that it sticks well to the melted chocolate.
Dip the end of a skewer or toothpick into the melted chocolate. Dab two small drops of melted chocolate near the top of the Oreo/bat’s head.
Immediately top the dabs of chocolate with two mini chocolate chips. Gently press them down so that they stick well to the cookies.
Dip the end of a skewer or toothpick into the melted chocolate again. Add two small drops of melted chocolate near the center of the Oreo/bat’s head this time.
Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving. To speed up the process, you can refrigerate the cookies for about 10 minutes.

- Separate 10 Oreo cookies (20 halves) and carefully scrape off the cream with a butter knife. Set aside.
- Separate the remaining 20 Oreo cookies (40 halves). Separate the halves with the cream from the ones without (if the ones without have any cream on them, carefully scrape it off with a butter knife).
- Carefully break the 20 Oreo halves without cream in half using your hands or a thin knife (it’s ok if they break a little unevenly). Pair the halves with another piece that is similar in size.
- Set the Oreo halves with cream on the prepared baking sheet.
- Place two Oreo half "wings" on top of each separated Oreo with cream and gently press them into place.
- Melt the remaining ½ cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals. Stir well after each interval until completely melted and smooth.
- Place a small dollop of melted chocolate in the center of the Oreos.
- Immediately top the chocolate with one of the scraped Oreo cookie halves (set aside at the beginning). Gently press the cookie half down to stick it together well.
- Use a skewer or toothpick to dab a small drop of melted chocolate towards the top of the Oreo/bat’s head. Immediately top with two mini chocolate chips.
- Dab two more small drops of melted chocolate near the center of the cookie and immediately place the candy eyes on top.
- Repeat the process for all of the remaining Oreos.
- Allow the chocolate to set completely. To speed up the process, you can place the bats in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Storage:
- Store bat cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days on the counter or 1 week in the refrigerator.
- Variations: You can use any variety of Oreo cookie! Keep in mind that regular Oreos don't have as much cream as Double Stuf, so use a little extra melted chocolate (or frosting) to help hold the wings in place.
