Add a pop of color to your craft room with a handmade Resin Rainbow Organizer!
Sometimes I find a mold, and I can't resist immediately making something with it. This Resin Rainbow Organizer is one of those projects, and I had so much fun using different colors of resin to make it. If you are new to resin, this would be a fun little project to make. Not only is it really simple, but the rainbow organizer would be such a creative and colorful gift to share with friends!!

SAFETY FIRST: Before getting started, wear disposable gloves, protect your workspace, and be sure to work in a well-ventilated area!
Prepare 1oz (30ml) of Amazing Clear Cast resin according to package directions. Pour in equal parts of resin and hardener to the mixing cup. Slowly stir the resin together with a stir stick for two minutes. If the resin looks cloudy or has any streaks running through it, you need to keep stirring it until it becomes clear.
Add some white iridescent glitter into the resin and stir until combined. Split the resin into 6 smaller mixing cups and add mica powder to each cup, creating a rainbow of resin. The more powder you add, the more vibrant the color will be. I was going for a light/pastel look, so I didn't add a lot. Stir each resin mixture with a clean stir stick until evenly incorporated. Give the resin a few minutes to "rest" and allow the bubbles to rise to the top.
There are small sections for each line of the rainbow in the Rainbow Organizer Silicone Mold. Use a toothpick to carefully add resin to the mold, in rainbow order. Be careful to not overfill the sections, otherwise the resin colors will bleed together. Repeat this process on the opposite side of the mold.
Pop any bubbles that rise to the top by spritzing with alcohol. Leave the resin to cure in an undisturbed, well ventilated area for at least 4 hours. Do NOT remove any of the resin from mold!!
Next, prepare 2-3oz (60-90ml) of Amazing Clear Cast resin according to package directions.
Pour the resin over each of the rainbows, and then into the four open sections in the center of the mold. Do not overfill the mold, especially in the center sections.
Pop any bubbles that rise to the top by spritzing with alcohol. Leave the resin to cure in an undisturbed, well ventilated area for 12-24 hours. You will know that the resin is cured and ready to remove when it is no longer tacky to the touch and pulls away from the edges of the mold.
Carefully remove the pieces from the mold. Trim away any excess resin with scissors or a craft knife. If the resin still feels flexible, it may just need more time to cure. Let the pieces sit in a warm, flat area to cure for a few hours (or days).
Once the resin has completely cured (no longer flexible), it's time to assemble the organizer. First, put all of the pieces together to make sure everything fits together. If necessary, file down the notches if you have a hard time fitting them into the holes in the rainbow pieces.
Take the organizer apart, and get some strong adhesive to make sure it stays together permanently. Add a little adhesive along the edges, next to the notches, on one of the longer sides of the largest white piece. Attach it to the bottom of one of the rainbows and hold the pieces together. Next, add adhesive on one side of the smaller white pieces, and put them into place.
Lastly, lay the organizer face-down on the rainbow side. Add adhesive to the open edges of the white pieces and lay the other rainbow piece on top, lining up the notches with the openings. Leave the organizer in place for the adhesive to fully dry.
The organizer isn't huge, but is a great size for smaller craft supplies, like these cute shakers (found at Target) filled with buttons. As always, I would love to hear what you think about this sparkly Resin Rainbow Organizer! As always, if you make any of these projects for yourself, I'd love to see your creations!
