Warm up with a hot and colorful mug of cocoa using homemade M&M Hot Cocoa Bombs!
Use the back of a spoon or a paint brush to cover each mold cavity with a thin layer of chocolate. Make sure to get all the way up the sides! As soon as both molds have been covered, place them in the freezer to allow the chocolate to completely harden.
Remove the molds from the freezer, and coat them with another thin layer of chocolate. This will ensure that each cocoa bomb will be completely solid, with no holes for the cocoa powder to leak through. Freeze the molds one more time for the chocolate to harden.
Carefully remove the chocolate from the molds. Fill six of the cocoa bombs with hot cocoa mix, and a generous amount of Mini M&Ms!
I also like to add in a few mini chocolate chips, and 6-8 mini marshmallows to the cocoa bombs. If you have any other favorite cocoa toppings, now is the time to add them in.
Now it's time to seal the cocoa bombs and make them into a full sphere. Fill a piping bag with melted chocolate, and add a thin line around the edge of the filled cocoa bomb halves. Place one of the empty halves on top, and use a spoon or your fingertip to spread the melted chocolate along the seam to seal it completely.
Carefully drizzle chocolate over each of the cocoa bombs in a zig-zag motion. If you don't want to use a piping bag, you can use a spoon to drizzle chocolate instead. Top each of the cocoa bombs with Mini M&Ms before the chocolate sets. Not only do these make the cocoa bombs look adorable, but it adds extra chocolate to your cup of cocoa! Once the chocolate has set, the cocoa bombs are ready for use.
To enjoy, place a M&M Hot Cocoa Bomb into a mug and pour 6 oz of hot milk over the top. Stir the cocoa mixture until the chocolate is completely melted.
