Graveyard Brownies

These Graveyard Brownies are a hauntingly perfect treat for a Halloween party!

Easy Graveyard Brownies

One of the best things about Halloween is the party treats! There are so many clever goodies ranging from cutesy to spooky to downright gory, and I love them all!! These Graveyard Brownies are simple to make, and it's even a recipe that the kids can help with. These chewy, fudgy brownies are paired with a crunchy cookie headstone to make them the perfect Halloween party treat, and I hope you get inspired to bake up a batch for your own monster mash!

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Scrape the filling from 5 Oreos, and place the cookies into a bowl or plastic bag. Crush the cookies into a fine crumb and set aside while you prepare the brownies.

Easy Graveyard Brownies

What makes this Halloween treat really simple is using a boxed brownie mix! Choose your favorite brand and/or flavor, then add eggs, oil, and water to the mix according to package directions. If you want to go the homemade route, my Fudge Brownie recipe is the best!

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Mix up your brownie batter until all of the ingredients are combined. For some extra brownie points (ha), you can add in nuts, chocolate chips, Oreo crumbs, or even marshmallows!

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Slowly pour the brownie batter into a greased 8” baking pan. You can also make the brownies in a 13"x9" baking pan, but just keep in mind that the finished brownies will not be as thick.

Easy Graveyard Brownies

While the brownies are baking, lay out 12 milano cookies. Fill a piping bag with black royal icing or use black decorating gel to write "RIP", "EEK", "BOO", or anything else you would want the headstones to say.

If you make the thinner 13"x9" brownies, the milano cookies may not stay upright. You will have better luck if you break the cookies half instead.

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Set all of the decorated cookies aside until the brownies are done baking. Aren't they so fun?! Besides RIP, what would you write on the cookies?

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool completely.

Once cooled, turn the pan upside-down to remove the brownies from the pan. Use a knife to cut it into 12 equal-sized pieces.

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Carefully stick the decorated milano cookies into the top third of brownie, so that it looks like a headstone and grave. Be careful to not mess up the lettering!

Easy Graveyard Brownies

Sprinkle about a teaspoon of the crushed Oreo crumbs in front of the cooke headstone to add some "dirt" to the grave. If you want to help the crumbs stick in place, add a light layer of royal icing or decorating gel to the top of the brownie before adding the crumbs.

If you want to add more decor to your graves, you can place mini candy pumpkins, bone candies, or whatever else you'd like!
