Make a Scentos Marker Gift Cake for your favorite teacher or artsy kid!
Looking for a creative and colorful gift idea? Why not gather a bunch of Scentos supplies and arrange them into a giant "cake"?! This is a fun gift for kids who would love a collection of scented markers, pens, and other supplies. Another great option is to give it to a teacher to use in the classroom! If you want to share a Marker Gift Cake with your favorite teacher, I have made a free printable card to attach to it as a way to say "thanks" for all that they do!
To make your own Scentos Marker Gift Cake, you will need these supplies:
- Scentos Products: I used a large variety!
- 6" x 7.8" Shipping Tube
- 4" x 6.2" Shipping Tube
- Rubber Bands
- Ribbon
- Free Printable Teacher "Marker" Card (download below - for personal use only)
For the bottom layer of the "cake", use the 6" x 7.8" shipping tube for the base of the bottom layer of the cake. For this layer, I used these Scentos products for this layer, but you can use practically anything you want!
- Scentos Scented Magic Markers x2
- Scentos Scented Mini Markers x2
- Scentos Scented Fibre Tip Pens
- Scentos Scented Mechanical Pencils
Stack two of the Scentos Scented (Chisel) Markers together for a total of 12 total marker stacks. Set these aside, and stack three of the Scentos Scented Mini Markers together for a total of 8 stacks. Lastly, stack two of the Scentos Scented Magic Markers together to make 10 stacks.
Arrange the marker stacks around the tube, and hold them in place with a rubber band. Next, I alternated Scentos Scented Fibre Tip Pens and Scentos Scented Mechanical Pencils as an extra layer on top of the stacked markers. Hold everything together with another rubber band. Turn all of the markers and pencils so that you can see the faces.
An extra bonus of using shipping tubes for this cake is that you have extra storage inside! Add in a few stacks of Scentos Scented Dough, Scentos Scented Gel Pens, and more to fill it to the top with scented supplies! Once filled, put the lid back on and set this cake layer aside.
For the top layer, I used the 4" x 6.2" Shipping Tube. Arrange Scentos Scented Fine Line Markers and Scentos Colored Pencils around the tube and use a rubber band or two to hold them in place.
Next, line Scentos Scented Fineliner Pens around the front of the first layer of pencils and markers and hold them in place with a rubber band. Make sure to turn the pens so that you can see those silly faces!!
Inside this smaller tube, I added more Scentos Scented Dough and some of the smaller Scentos supplies. This would also be a great place to add in little notes from all of the students!!
Hold the top layer together tightly and center it on top of the bottom layer. When transporting the cake, separate the layers since they aren't held together by glue or anything.
Choose some of your favorite ribbon or trim (I used red jumbo rick rack trim) and wrap it tightly over the rubber band and secure it in the back with tape. Alternatively, you could tie it into a cute bow on the front. Have fun and be creative!!
For the bottom layer, I centered a length of light blue grosgrain ribbon over some polka dotted ribbon and placed that over the rubber band to cover it up. Be sure to secure it tightly to the cake to hold everything in place!
Last, but not least, attach the card on top of the cake. Download the free printable and print it out on cardstock (for best results). You can tape the card onto a can of Scentos Scented Dough, or stick the bottom ends between the tops of markers on the top layer.
