A Party Animal Coloring Page Tote Bag (with FREE Cut File) is a party favor guests will remember!
When planning a party, it's important to include an activity to keep the kids busy. I like to make that activity some kind of craft both that entertains and gives the guests something special to take home. This Party Animal Coloring Page Tote Bag is a fun project idea that guests of all ages will enjoy coloring, and can be taken home to be used over and over again. It's an easy project to prep before the party, and it will definitely be an activity that guests will remember.
To make your own Party Animal Coloring Page Tote Bag, you will need these supplies:
- Party Animal Cut File (personal use only)
- Cricut Maker 3 or Cricut Explore Air 3 machine
- HTV/Iron-On Vinyl
- White Canvas Tote Bags
- EasyPress 2
- EasyPress Mat
- Iron-On Protective Sheet
- Weeding Tools
- Fabric Markers
Upload the "Party Animal" cut file into Design Space and size the image to fit the tote bag. Make sure the entire design is selected, and click "Attach" in the bottom right menu to keep the design together when cutting. If you don't Attach, the pieces of the design will arrange themselves along the top of the mat instead.
*Here's a great tutorial on how to upload your own images into Cricut Design Space.
If you are making multiple tote bags, type in how many copies you need in the drop down menu and click "Apply". The copies will fill up on the mat preview automatically.
Before cutting the iron-on vinyl, make sure to mirror your image! If you don't, your design will be backwards when you put it on the shirt. To do this, select the mat thumbnail in Design Space before cutting, and click the "Mirror" toggle to reverse the image.
I cut the designs out of black HTV with my Cricut Explore Air 2 machine. To do this, place the vinyl face-down on the mat, and load it into the machine. Change the material settings to the type of vinyl you are cutting, and then click the "Go" button to cut the vinyl.
"Weed" the excess vinyl by removing all of the parts that don't belong in the design. I usually peel away the outer edges first starting at the corner, and then work my way around the design. Then I use weeding tools to help remove the smaller pieces of the design.
Plug in the EasyPress 2 and power it on. Each kind of HTV has a different heat and time setting, so be sure to check the recommended EasyPress settings before getting started. Adjust the heat and time setting to your shirt and vinyl specifications. Once the light turns green and the machine beeps, it's ready to use.
When the EasyPress is up to temperature, place the tote bag on the EasyPress Mat and preheat the area for 5-10 seconds. Lay the HTV down on the tote, with the clear carrier sheet facing up. Set the EasyPress over the vinyl and press the green "C" button. Hold firmly in place while the timer counts down. Turn the tote over and press the EasyPress firmly again for 15 seconds. Peel off the carrier sheet while the vinyl is still warm. Repeat the process for all of the tote bags you need.
Once the bag has been colored, it's ready to be filled with party favors and goodies! Not only is this coloring page tote bag a fun activity for kids to do at a party, but it doubles as a party favor bag to take home afterward to be used for all kinds of things! Let the marker dry for 24 hours before washing to keep the vibrancy of the marker ink.
