Learn to make Easy Stamped Pop-Up Cards (with Free Printable Template) for any occasion!
I've always enjoyed making handmade cards, and especially loved making pop-up cards for friends when I was a kid. One of my goals for this year is to be a little more on top of things, so I decided to whip up a bunch of cards to keep on-hand for any occasion. As I was getting supplies out, I decided to make a bunch of pop-up cards using stamps and foil - and I am so glad I did!! These are the cutest cards, and they are so easy! I'm also sharing a free printable template that you can use to make pop-up cards for your own collection.
To make your own Stamped Pop-Up Cards, you will need these supplies:
Download the Pop-Up Card Template on cardstock. Use scissors or a paper trimmer to cut the template out along the outer border. Use this as a template to cut a rectangle out of colored cardstock and fold the cardstock in half.
Next, trim the template to the inner border. Fold the card along the dotted line in the center. While folded, cut the six solid lines at the fold. Open the card about halfway, and fold the strips in the center n the opposite direction, toward the inside of the card. These will be the "pop-ups" for your card!
Close the card, and add lines of Easy-Tear Tape around the entire border of the card and in between each of the "pop-up" strips. Peel away the lining on the tape pieces, and center the white card inside the outer (colored cardstock) card. Press the cards together to stick them together well.
When you open the card, you should be able to see the three strips "popping" up like this. If they are folding with the card, gently pop them up to fold in this direction so that they stand when the card is opened. Set the card(s) aside to work on the next steps.
Choose three images and/or sentiments from the Laura Kelly Kindness On Purpose Stamp Set. For example, I used "You Make Me Hoppy" and two sets of frogs for one of the cards. Place the stamp onto an acrylic stamp block and use a black stamp pad to stamp the images on a piece of white cardstock.
Use colored pencils or markers to color all of the stamp images in. Use scissors to cut the stamps out, leaving a small border around the images.
Once the adhesive is dry, it will turn clear and won't be wet at all. Lay a Deco Foil Transfer Sheet over the adhesive, and rub the foil with your fingertip using medium to firm pressure. Peel the foil away to reveal the colorful foil shimmer on your project.
This is a great way to use up small foil scraps!
Apply a Zots adhesive dot on the front side of each of the pop-up strips inside the card. Place the stamped pieces on top of the dots. Put them on lightly at first, in case you need to adjust the placement.
Which Stamped Pop-Up Card is your favorite? I love how they are all made using the same template/layout, but all look so different! It would be a lot of fun to have a craft day with friends using the Laura Kelly Designs Therm-O-Web Collection to make a collection of cards so that you can share a little bit of kindness with those who need a little extra love.
