Keep all of your hair ties in one place with the help of this DIY Hair Tie Hanger + Organizer!
My daughter is always leaving her hair ties all over the place, and yet somehow we can't seem to find a single one once it's time to do her hair. It drives me crazy, and it's so frustrating trying to keep track of all of these hair accessories! Together, we came up with a plan for this Hair Tie Hanger + Organizer to keep all of her hair ties in one convenient space. Not only did she love getting to make it all on her own, but it was a great opportunity for her to finally learn to use a power tool!
To make your own Hair Tie Hanger, you will need these supplies:
Choose an unfinished wood plaque (in any shape) from the craft store. Sand the edges, if necessary. Use a sponge brush to paint 2-3 coats of your favorite color of acrylic paint on the wood, making sure to let each coat dry completely before adding another.
Depending on just how many hair ties you have, choose 2-3 metal coat hooks in any finish to coordinate with the paint color. The hooks usually come with screws, but if they don't, be sure to grab some that match the hooks.
Arrange the hook on the plaque and use a pencil to make marks where they need to go. Use a drill or screwdriver to attach the hooks in place and attach a picture hanger to the back.
This is such a great project for teens and pre-teens to learn how to use a power tool!
Hang the organizer on the wall in your bathroom, bedroom, or wherever you like to keep your hair supplies. Place all of your hair ties on the hooks, and now they will be easy to find whenever you need one!
My daughter loved making this project, and is so proud of herself for doing it all on her own using grown-up tools. I love how confident she was afterward, and am especially glad that I'm no longer finding random hair ties all over the place!
As always, I would love to see your project if you recreate this one! Share your creations on Instagram, Facebook, or leave a comment/photo on the project pin on Pinterest!!
