Upcycle old cereal boxes into unique Christmas Gift Tags!
We usually have piles of recyclable boxes taking over our house this time of year. Recycling is always a good thing, and giving new life to something that would otherwise be in the trash is so satisfying! These scrappy Upcycled Christmas Gift Tags made with E6000 are a fun and mess-free holiday craft that the whole family can enjoy while helping the environment at the same time.
To make your own upcycled Christmas gift tags, you will need these supplies:
- Cereal (or other food) Boxes OR Kraft Cardstock
- Free Printable Tag Template (personal use only)
- E6000 Extreme Tack
- Embellishments: Ribbon, Pom Pom Trim, Buttons, Fabric, etc.
- Letter Embellishments: Magazine Cutouts, Letter Cutouts, etc.
- Scissors
Download and print the free printable tag template, or draw your own out on a half sheet of paper. Use scissors and the template to cut tags out of old cereal boxes, paperboard food boxes, or kraft cardstock.
Apply lines and dots of E6000 Extreme Tack to the tag where you would like to place your embellishments, like ribbon, pom pom trim, buttons, and fabric. For best results, let the adhesive set for about 8 hours (smaller or thinner applications may take less time) until they become tacky, but not wet. Another option is to apply the adhesive to embellishments themselves and then letting the adhesive set up.
Once the adhesive has set, you can easily tack the embellishments onto the tag. If you don't like the placement or decide on a different embellishment, you can easily remove, replace or reattach as much as you'd like.
Once the tag is complete, attach it to a gift and share some kindness with someone special! I attached this "Bright" tag to some candy and gave it to a barista at my local coffee shop. The tag is fun and adds an extra special something to an otherwise simple gift.
