Sew up a Cozy Cabin Cuddle Pillow to snuggle all winter long!
To make your own cuddle pillow, you will need these supplies:
Measuring at 14" x 28", the Poly-Fil Premier Lumbar Pillow from Fairfield World is perfect for lower back support, and is a fun size to use for decorative pillows in any room in the house. Even though this tutorial is for the lumbar pillow, you can adjust the measurements to fit any pillow insert size.
Cut your cuddle fabrics one inch larger than the pillow insert using a rotary cutter, ruler, and cutting mat. For example, I cut both of my fabrics 15" x 29" to fit the lumbar pillow.
Lay the back Sparkle Cuddle fabric face up on a flat surface. Align the edge of the pom pom trim with the edge of the fabric, with the pom poms facing inside the fabric. Use clips to keep the trim in place and line it all the way around the fabric. Cuddle fabric can be slippery to work with, so I would recommend using more clips than usual to keep things from shifting.
Baste/stitch the pom pom trim into place along the edges of the fabric and remove the clips. Keep the pom poms facing inward.
Carefully place the Cabin Quilt Cuddle fabric face-down on top of the back fabric and trim, and align the fabric edges. Use clips to keep the fabric in place. Again, the fabrics will be slippery, so use more clips than you'd think!
Sew around the edges of the fabric, being careful to not sew over the top of any of the pom poms. Leave a 4"-5" opening at the bottom of the cover.
Turn the cover right-side out. Because of the way the fabric can slip, go around the entire cover and make sure that you didn't miss sewing any spots (except for the opening). If you did, turn the cover inside-out and sew the areas closed.
Squish the pillow insert into the cover opening. Once it's in, re-"fluff" the insert to fit evenly into the cover. Pin or clip the opening in the cover and sew it closed. If you are nervous about sewing it, you could use a little bit of fabric adhesive instead and clip it closed until the adhesive sets.
The Cozy Cabin Cuddle Pillow is extra soft for cuddling, and looks great on display. It's the perfect mix of rustic decor and cozy winter vibes!
