Create a set of Harry Potter Book Ornaments to add some extra magic to your Christmas tree!
I am making a Harry Potter-themed Christmas Tree this year, and one of my first projects were these Harry Potter Book Ornaments. They add so much magic to my tree, and I love how they look like miniature copies of my favorite books floating between the branches. These ornaments are simple to make, and would even be a thoughtful gift to make for a fellow Harry Potter fan!
To make your own Harry Potter Book Ornaments, you will need these supplies:
Lightly sand seven wood rectangles, if needed. Paint just the edges of the wood pieces with a light coat of white acrylic paint and allow them to dry completely.
Download and print the Harry Potter Book Cover Printable on regular copy paper. Carefully cut the covers out using scissors or a paper trimmer. Line the front of the cover up with the front of the wood piece. Fold the paper around the wood and crease all of the edges.
Fold all of the creases so that there is a hard line. Trim the outer creases so that the paper will fit the wood, wrapping around one of the sides.
Cover the wood (on the front, side, and back) with a light coat of Mod Podge. If you use too much, it can cause the paper to wrinkle or tear. Carefully line the cover up on the wood and press it down well to remove any air bubbles. Paint another light coat of Mod Podge over the book covers to seal and protect the paper.
Repeat the process until you have all seven Harry Potter book covers attached to the wood pieces.
Use a hand drill and small bit to drill a small hole in the top of the "book". Twist a jewelry eye screw into the hole using your fingers or pliers. If you are worried about it coming out, you can put some strong adhesive in with the screw.
Cut a length of fishing wire for each of the books. Thread the wire through the loop in the eye screw and tie the ends together well to create a hanger for the book ornaments.
Such a wonderful little craft! Thank you sooo much for sharing and for making the covers easily accessible to your readers :)
