Use a kit from Annie's to create this Kind Tote & Bangle Keychain!
If you (or someone you know) is a crafter, but just doesn't know how to get started, craft kits are the perfect way to get started! Annie's Farmhouse Style Kits are delivered right to your door every 4 weeks, and come with everything you need to create a beautiful farmhouse-style project. The kit for July was this Kind Tote and Bangle project. I had so much fun with it, that I wanted to share it with all of you!
This is how the kits arrive: all the craft supplies for the craft, including instructions, bundled up in a single package!
This specific kit comes with step-by-step photo instructions, a tote bag, heat transfer vinyl (pre-cut), wood bangle, leather cord, keychain, stain, sealer, a paint brush, and masking tape.
Pour some stain onto a paint tray or a paper plate. Use the paint brush to apply the stain to the bangle. I found it helpful to paint the outside of the bangle first and then let it dry. Next, apply the stain to the center and let it dry. The stain paints on beautifully, and I only needed to apply one coat.
Wash the paint brush and tray completely.
Once the stain has completely dry, add some of the sealant to the paint tray or a paper plate. Paint the sealant over the bangle the same way as the stain.
The sealant goes on white, but dries clear with a satin finish. Set the bangle aside to dry while you work on the rest of the project.
The next step is to make the leather tassel keychain. Tape the keychain and the end of the leather cord down with the provided masking tape.
Loop the leather cord through the keychain ring multiple times, making sure to keep all of the loops even.
Cut the end of the leather cord after you're done making loops. Cut a length of cord, and make a knot around the loops. Wrap around and knot it again to keep them all together.
Take the tape off of the end of the leather cord. Use scissors to cut through the bottom of the loops, and then trim the ends so that they are all even.
Take the tape off of the keychain. Hook the keychain clasp onto the wood bangle to connect the two.
Now this bangle part of the project is complete. Isn't this bangle keychain with the leather tassel so cute? I just love it, and it was so surprisingly easy to make!!
The next part of the project is to complete the tote! The kit comes with the heat transfer vinyl already weeded, and on a carrier sheet. Place the tote bag onto an ironing board or on an EasyPress mat. Center the vinyl on the front of the tote and use the tape to hold it in place.
Plug in the EasyPress and adjust the settings to 330º for 30 seconds. Remove the tape from the sides of the carrier sheet (it will leave a sticky residue if you iron over it). Place the EasyPress over the vinyl and hold it with a little pressure as the timer counts down. Peel the carrier sheet away once the vinyl has cooled.
I absolutely love this tote, and especially the vinyl quote. Kind people really ARE my kind of people! This was such a fun little project for me, and would be a lot of fun to order multiple kits to have a craft night with the girls!
As always, I would love to see your creations! Share your creations on Instagram, Facebook, or leave a comment/photo on the project pin on Pinterest! #AFMCrafts
