Craft Room Tour

Welcome to my craft room! I'm excited to finally share my happy space with you!

Artsy-Fartsy Mama Craft Room

Hello, friends! This craft room has been a long time in the making, and I am beyond excited to finally share it with you all. It has been a lot of fun (and a lot of work) to transform this empty canvas of a room into something that is so perfect for me. It's got lots of organization, bright pops of color, handmade decor, and creative trinkets that are so.... me! I hope you love it as much as I do!

Craft Room Before

It has taken a long time to get to this point in my craft room. About 7 years ago, this "L"-shaped bedroom had bright blue painted walls, and old, dirty carpet. When we peeled up the carpet, we were surprised to find multiple layers of paint over the top of linoleum and a subfloor that was barely holding on.

My husband and I worked hard to rebuild the room (literally) from the ground up. New subfloor, new vinyl flooring, and a fresh coat of light gray paint completely transformed the room into a blank canvas. This transformation alone was both overwhelming and exciting!

The next step was to plan out the space. I have quite an extensive craft supply collection, and desperately needed the organization and storage for it all. We decided to use kitchen cabinets from IKEA. We have the same cabinets in our master bathroom and love them! They are good quality, easy to assemble, and will last a long time.

The large cabinet on the left holds a lot of larger storage containers holding craft supplies, like my glitter collection, resin crafting supplies, spray paints, and larger paint bottles (just to name a few). The smaller drawers on the ends keep all of my smaller items organized; like office supplies, notepads, stamp supplies, and a whole lot more! The middle drawers hold my collection of resin silicone molds, paint (I'll show you that next), paint brushes/supplies, EasyPress machines, and photo staging supplies.

*Just like in real life, I cleaned the craft room the best I could before having you come take a tour of it!

I'm not going to show you every drawer, but this one just makes me so happy! The drawer is the perfect height to hold my ever-growing collection of acrylic paints! I've got all kinds of paints stored in here by type, not color (yet), which makes it easy to grab exactly what I need while crafting. Isn't it beautiful?!

I love incorporating my own decor into the room, and my Ombre Wood Clock is still ticking! I have it hanging on the wall on the left side just as you come into the room. This was one of my first projects using a Dremel, and t's one of my favorite decor pieces that I've made. I love that it is still so sparkly after all these years!!

Besides all of the convenient storage, the large countertop space is one of my favorite things about this side of the room! When it's clean, I have a lot of area to create and everything that is stored in the cabinet and drawers are easily within reach. I've also got my Cricut Explore machine ready to use, with a lot of my Cricut tools in the buckets under the shelves.

On the shelves, you'll see some of my favorite characters in Funko form (you'll also see my grumpy little Mandrake), a rainbow of paint bottles for a pop of color, Heidi Swapp Marquee Letters "AFM" (Artsy-Fartsy Mama) that I covered in gold glitter with my word of the year "Flourish" made by A Sweet Berry Designs. On the center shelves, I have some storage containers holding smaller supplies (clay tools, jewelry tools, adhesives, etc) with labels cut out of vinyl.

Between the shelves is a custom print I received from Heidi Swapp at SNAP Conference a few years ago, framed with a watercolored matte. Below that is my awesome Harry Potter Mini Funko Display I made a couple of years ago! It's one of my favorite Harry Potter crafts and is such a fun way to display those little figures!!

To the right of the shelves, I've got a bunch of IKEA kitchen wall bars with buckets. This is a great way to keep all of my markers and colored pencils organized and easy to grab. The buckets can be removed from the bars, which makes it easy to take the markers to a different area, if needed. I've also got my craft scissors and fabric scissors hanging from hooks for convenience.

Next to the buckets is my favorite embroidered felt Cricut project!

There is a window next to the wall hanging, and then there is my photo area/sewing table! We used three IKEA Kallax shelves (two 2x2, one 2x3) and a large piece of melamine on top to create the workspace. My chair fits perfectly, and it's so convenient with all of the storage!

I use the left end that's next to the window for my craft photo area and workspace (you can see resin projects currently curing there). On the shelves below are more resin supplies, paper towels, and other miscellaneous craft supplies.

I absolutely love my sewing space. It's got tons of room, and looks pretty cute! I keep all of my sewing supplies in a container and stored on the shelf below. I like that it's all out of the way when I'm not using it, but easy to grab when it's time to start!

Next to my sewing machine is my thrifted gumball machine filled with colorful spools of thread. I've also got an IKEA hand holding an extra black spool of thread, with a Funko Nightmare Before Christmas Sally (ironically sewing herself back together) sitting on top of my "Make Today Awesome" Block!

The wall decor makes me so happy! I've got my "Create" Faux Pallet Sign up at the top, and two IKEA spice racks that have been painted and turned into shelves to hold my plush Harry Potter characters, including my handmade Pygmy Puff!! In my custom-made mug (thanks Laura!), I've got some Harry Potter wands, glasses, and a broom pen!

*Yes, there is a photo of a random dog on my sewing machine. For some reason there is a place to put your own photo, but I just have been too lazy to switch it out.

Okay, deep breath, and turn to the right to face the closet. This area isn't beautiful, but it sure is convenient for more storage! I've got two more 2x2 IKEA Kallax shelves on the floor to hold my other containers of supplies. Everything is labeled though, so that makes it easy to find everything I need!

On the left is all of my fabric. Next, I have some camera stands and tripods that are put away while they aren't being used, and then I have stacks of projects waiting to be finished!! The center looked a bit empty, so I hung up my favorite "I Arted" Canvas Sign!

The top shelf holds all of my Fairfield World supplies, rolls of duct tape, and larger paper cutters and other machines. I also keep other containers of important papers, business cards, etc at the top of the closet.

As you turn to the right, there is a small wall space between the closet and my other cabinet. This is where my Paper Flower Wreath hangs, and below that is my newest shelf to hold more of my favorite Mini Funko Pops! The Nightmare Before Christmas collection is one of my favorites!!

I have another large cabinet (no door) holding a lot of my wood craft supplies, extra frames, and a large container of ribbon. Behind the door, I have a 1x4 Kallax shelf to hold rolls of vinyl and transfer paper, my Sizzix machine and dies, and my large EasyPress machine and mat. I also stuck a hook on the side to hold all of my Cricut mats to keep them easy to find, but out of the way.

Last, but not least, I have my vintage Rainbow Brite doll (that I just found thrifting) on display on top of the shelf behind the door. I also have a glass container with the word "Sparkle" cut from vinyl, an adorable yellow Instax camera, and I hope my fellow 80's friends will appreciate the pink Popple Funko and a Garbage Pail Kids "Leaky Lindsay" Funko to go along with Rainbow Brite!

That's it! I hope you enjoyed the tour and are feeling inspired about your own crafty space. I would absolutely LOVE to see your craft rooms, no matter the size. It's always fun for me to see where everyone
gets creative! #AFMCraftroom
