Get ready for Valentine's Day with this set of "We Belong Together" Valentine Cards!
This month's Totally Free Printables theme is all about Valentine's Day! We've got 21 FREE printables for you to gift, craft with, and to keep the kids entertained! My contribution to the collection is this set of "We Belong Together" Valentine Cards to color and hand letter (with my handy *trick*) to share with your favorite gal pal, BFF, or spouse. I hope you enjoy this lovable collection as much as we do!!
Download the Valentine Card printables and print them out on cardstock. Use a paper trimmer to carefully cut the cards out following the outer border line.
To be completely honest, I feel like my drawing is done best digitally. To make things easy for myself (and those of you like me) I put this card together with very light lines that can't be seen once they've been drawn over! Use your favorite markers to color in the card images. The markers I used are dual-tipped, which means one side (brush) is best for lettering/writing, while the chisel tip works better for coloring in large spaces.
Alcohol-based markers are great for layering and mixing colors without tearing up your paper. I didn't have a marker with the perfect "peanut butter" color, so I grabbed a scrap piece of cardstock and tried different colors and layering to get a combination I liked. I definitely recommend this if you are wanting to try something different on your card.
Choose a coordinating color to use for the wording at the bottom of the card. Use the brush tip and carefully trace over the lettering. See how the printed version is basically invisible beneath the marker ink?! No one will ever know that you didn't free-hand the entire card - unless you tell them... or if they've seen this post.
Use a scoring tool and a ruler to score the line down the center of the card. This will ensure a smooth, straight fold to your card.
For a little bit of sparkle, I colored over the peanut butter and jelly areas with a Shimmer Brush. Add your message to the inside of the card for the recipient. When folded, the card measures 5" x 7", so it will easily fit inside a standard A7 envelope.
There are two Valentine cards, all ready to be colored, included in the download. I hope you enjoy this project, and as always, I would love to see your creations if you decide to make it yourself. Please share your projects and tag me on Instagram, Facebook, or leave a comment/photo on the project pin on Pinterest!
