Have a Peter Rabbit Movie Night, including Free Printable Popcorn Boxes and a Garden Popcorn recipe!
One of our favorite ways to spend time together is with family movie nights. My daughter has been begging to see Peter Rabbit, and so we surprised her with a fun movie night this last weekend. It's such a fun and family-friendly movie that everyone is sure to love. We had a wonderful time watching the movie and making some Peter Rabbit Garden Popcorn!
Popcorn is a "pop"ular snack to enjoy with a movie. Orville Redenbacher’s is the only leading brand of microwave popcorn with no artificial preservatives, flavors, or dyes in any of its products, so you can feel good about sharing it with your family. There are also 0g trans fat per serving, so sit back and enjoy the rich, buttery flavor - just like at the movies!
While the chocolate is still warm, pour some crushed chocolate sandwich cookies into the popcorn. Carefully stir the popcorn again to coat all of the kernels in cookie crumbs.
Now your popcorn should look like the "dirt" in the garden - but much more delicious!!
As you know, Peter Rabbit just can't stay out of Mr. McGregor's garden! Now that the "dirt" is ready to go, you can start assembling some sweet "vegetables" to add to the garden. Since the star of the movie is a rabbit, we decided to pay homage with some carrots!
To assemble these carrots, you'll need some fruity, chewy candies. Separate some of the green and orange candies from the rest of the pack. Cut one of the green pieces into fourths.
Add a small drop of water to one side of the green candy pieces and stick it to the top of an orange candy. Hold in place for a minute, and that's it! You can also add in whole green candies to represent cucumbers and cut red candies into pieces for tomatoes. Use your imagination and, most importantly, have fun!
Peter Rabbit Garden Popcorn
Ingredients:
1 package Orville Redenbacher’s Naturals - Simply Salted popcorn
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
12 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed
oblong, fruity, chewy candies (orange, green)
Directions:
1. Cook the popcorn according to package directions. Pour out into a bowl or a cookie sheet and remove any unpopped kernels.
2. Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl for 1 minute, then increments of 30 seconds until they are completely melted.
3. Drizzle spoonfuls of chocolate over the popcorn and stir with a spatula to coat the popcorn kernels.
4. Immediately pour in the cookie crumbs and stir to coat all of the popcorn. Let sit to cool.
5. Assemble "carrots" by cutting a green candy into 1/4, and placing a piece on top of an orange candy.
Speaking of popcorn boxes, I have designed a Peter Rabbit-themed popcorn box that is free for you to download, assemble and use for your own movie night! First, you need to download the Free Printable Peter Rabbit Popcorn Box (link below), and print on cardstock. Use scissors to cut out the template.
Use a scoring tool and a ruler to score all of the dashed fold lines. Carefully fold all of the edges and crease well.
Add a bit of glue or a tape runner line along the left tab. Bring the two edges together and place the tab behind the end of the box. Press well and make sure it sticks.
Last, but most importantly, assemble the bottom of the box. Fold in the "U" shaped side first, then both of the side tabs. Then place the opposite tab through the center. Repeat all of the steps to make popcorn boxes for all of your movie night guests!
When you're ready to start the movie, fill up the popcorn boxes. Don't forget to add in your vegetables!
I hope that you have as much fun with these popcorn boxes as we did! They will be so fun for a Peter Rabbit-themed movie night, or even a birthday party!
