Besides bringing my famous Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes, my family is in charge of providing a favor box for each of our Thanksgiving guests. These DIY Thanksgiving Favor Boxes are so easy to make with a little help from the Cricut Maker, and we can't wait to share them with our family!
Open up the Thanksgiving Favor Boxe Cut File in Design Space. Double click on "mom" to customize the text to be written on the box. Everything else is ready to be cut, scored and written, so all you have to do is click "Make It" in the top right corner.
To cut out the box template with the Cricut Maker, you just need to follow the step-by-step instructions in Design Space to guide you through the process. Load some cardstock in any color you want on the mat into the machine. You'll also need to have a Scoring Stylus and Pens on hand to get the fold lines marked and the details drawn on the boxes.
Cut out all of the box templates. To help to keep your paper flat instead of curling, turn the mat over and peel the mat away from the paper instead of peeling the paper away from the mat. This trick has saved so many of my projects!
Fold along all of the score lines on the box. Use your fingernail or a credit card to crease the lines well.
Turn the box over. Use a tape runner or quick-drying glue to add an adhesive line along the tab on the right hand side.
Fold the box around and line up the edges. Carefully press the tab down over the opposite end and hold in place until the adhesive has set.
Close up the bottom of the box by folding all of the tabs open. Add a line of adhesive along the inside of one of the longer tabs.
Fold in the smaller tabs on each side, then the longer tab without adhesive on it. Carefully lay the tab with adhesive on it down and line it up with the opposite tab. Hold in place until the adhesive has set.
Stand the favor box up and fill with delicious treats and surprises! We used some fall-colored chocolate candies, mini candy bars, and added in a special note for each guest.
Close the box by folding the top over and pressing the box closed. Line up the two holes through all three layers of paper, and thread some ribbon or twine through. Tie the twine together into a sweet bow to keep the box closed.
By using different color papers and pens, you can add a little personality to each favor box. On the medium paper, I used Cricut Black Fine Point Pen. On the darker and lighter papers, I used Cricut Metallic Pens instead to help the ink stand out. You could also switch things up to make these favor boxes for the Christmas holiday.
We can't wait to add these special DIY Thanksgiving Favor Boxes on our Thanksgiving tablescape!
