Take the lunch box up a notch with these 3 EASY (non-sandwich) Peanut Butter Lunch Ideas
and Free Printable Back to School Lunchbox Jokes!
The past few months, my daughter has refused to eat PB&J sandwiches. As a mom who often sends lunches from home, this can get to be a challenge to come up with something she'll actually finish. Turns out she just got tired of them and doesn't like the flavor of peanut butter and jelly together. After a little thinking, I'm going to see if we can work some peanut butter back into the lunch rotation by getting a little more creative. I've come up with a few new ideas using different flavors from Peanut Butter & Co. that I think just might work!!
This post is sponsored by Peanut Butter & Co. As always, all opinions are my own.
The first lunch idea to incorporate some peanut butter is one of the easiest! By adding in a Peanut Butter & Co. Smooth Operator Dipping Cup along with some apple slices and pretzels, you've got a simple and filling lunch that can be thrown together quickly. It's also going to make it a little more fun for my daughter to start to enjoy eating peanut butter again.
Not only are Peanut Butter & Co. Smooth Operator Dipping Cups great for lunches, they are also perfect for snacking on the go! With 7-9g of protein per serving, it's sure to give you that boost of energy you need in the afternoons. Choose between Smooth Operator or Dark Chocolate Dreams peanut butter to pop in a lunchbox, stash in your desk drawer, keep in your purse or in your car for a quick snack.
The next idea is something we call PB Honey & Banana Sushi (no fish or seaweed included)! My sister-in-law sent my daughter some adorable Japanese chopsticks, which inspired this lunch. With all the flavors of a PB Honey & Banana Sandwich, this is a whole lot more fun for kids to eat!
To make the "sushi", use a rolling pin to flatten a piece of bread. Try to get it as flat as you can for best results. Spread some Peanut Butter & Co. The Bee's Knees Peanut Butter over the piece of bread all the way to the edges. Cut a banana to the width of the bread and lay it down on top of the peanut butter at the bottom edge of the bread.
Starting from the bottom, carefully fold up the bottom edge and roll the banana tightly up to the top edge of the bread. Use a knife to cut the "roll" into slices. Place the slices into a container along with a side of some fruit or veggies (chopsticks optional). Now you've got a healthy lunch that's fun to eat!
The Peanut Butter & Co. The Bee's Knees Peanut Butter is peanut butter blended with scrumptious honey, which makes it perfect to pair with bananas in this recipe. It's the perfect mix of sweet and salty that you can even enjoy straight from the jar!
Start by flattening a piece of bread with a rolling pin. Spread a layer of Peanut Butter & Co. Smooth Operator Peanut Butter all the way to the edges. Add a layer of Chocmeister Milk Chocolatey Hazelnut Spread on top of the peanut butter. Start at the bottom of the bread and roll it tightly to the top edge. Use a knife to cut the roll into slices. Carefully use the knife to poke through the slices vertically. This will help the sticks to go through the slices without smashing the spiral.
Cut a banana and two strawberries into slices. Slide a stick through a roll-up, then alternate with strawberries and/or bananas. Place the kabobs into a container and enjoy!
Peanut Butter & Co. Smooth Operator Peanut Butter is made with peanuts blended with a pinch of salt and cane sugar for a touch of sweetness. It's also got a little bit of palm fruit oil (containing zero cholesterol and zero trans fats) to keep the peanut oil from separating, which means no need to stir the oil back in!
Chocmeister Milk Chocolatey Hazelnut Spread is a delicious chocolatey hazelnut spread made with 25% less sugar and more protein than the leading brand of chocolate hazelnut spreads that tastes great on pretty much anything you put it on! Along with PB Hazelnut Roll-Up Kabobs, it's also delicious with fruit and can be used in baking.
Now that lunch is taken care of, I always like to add in a little note in the lunch box to brighten my daughter's day. These Back to School Lunchbox Jokes are free for you to print and are sure to make your kids smile!
