When it comes to birthday parties, it's easy to get stressed out with all the planning, cleaning your house, and shopping for all the necessities. Even though it seems like it, not every birthday party needs to be "Pinterest Perfect". Kids just love to have a good time, and parents love getting the most for their money. After looking at some different party options for my daughter's birthday, we decided to have a pottery painting party at As You Wish Pottery!
When booking a birthday party with As You Wish, all you need to worry about is showing up. Our table was already decorated, supplies were set up, and everything ready to go. Your party host will assist you in all aspects of the party: helping the children with painting (probably the most stressful part of all), helping to serve any food and beverages you may have to offer, and cleaning everything up!
I was also able to make some custom birthday hats for cheap. You can do it, too! Using my Cricut Explore machine and some silver and gold glitter vinyl, I cut out some unicorn heads and stuck them on some colorful $2 party hats!
Guess what? As You Wish even put together some birthday goodie bags for us! Filled with treats, and other awesome favors, it was such a nice thing for them to do and one less thing I needed to worry about.
Now that everything is set up, let's get this party started! Give guests a party hat and have them choose a seat. Our host introduced himself and gave the birthday girl a special birthday button with her name on it to wear during the party!
The next step is for everyone to choose a piece of pottery to paint. Depending on your party package, your guests can choose a piece between $15-25! There is a ton of options to choose from. My daughter chose this super cute unicorn.
It's so rare to find my daughter holding still for more than a few minutes, so I had to capture this moment of her concentrating on painting the perfect unicorn.
During our painting session, we took a break so that our host could give the party guests a tour of the kiln room. He also told them more about how the process works once you've finished painting, so it turns out this party was both entertaining and educational!
As a surprise, the guest of honor gets to choose from a selection of birthday plates to take home. All of the party guests get to sign the plate with a marker that will become permanent after baking. Of course, As You Wish gives you detailed instructions on how to do just that once you get home. Now the birthday girl has her own birthday plate with her best friends names to remind her of this special day!
Once everyone was done with their project, I snapped a picture of them showing it off. Everyone was so proud of their project, and it was so fun to see that my daughter has such creative friends! Plus, it goes to show that even if you and your friend choose the same pottery piece, each one will end up looking unique.
As You Wish is a busy place, so it can be hard to tell each project apart. To keep track of our group's pieces, they mark the bottom of each one with a heart in the birthday girl's favorite color. Smart, right?! After 2-3 days, our projects were ready to be picked up.
You are welcome to bring any food and drink to enjoy after (or during) the pottery painting! We brought along some colorful plates, dotted metallic napkins, and silver paper cups with some more unicorns cut out of blue, pink, purple, and green glitter vinyl to bring it into our theme!
Unicorn cupcakes covered in sprinkles are always on the menu for birthday parties! I arranged the vanilla and chocolate cupcakes on a cupcake stand for everyone to enjoy.
To transform otherwise delectable cupcakes into unicorn cupcakes, I cut out ears and a horn out of blue, teal, pink and purple poster board paper and silver glitter cardstock with my Cricut Explore machine and glued the two pieces together. Stick the pieces into the frosting, and voila! A unicorn cupcake is born.
We had such a great time celebrating while painting pottery with our best friends! Visit As You Wish for more information on parties, classes, and more.
What a fun party!
