This Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding is a fun afternoon snack for kids!
With my daughter back in school, I've had to come up with some new quick and creative snack options. At the end of a busy day of learning, she wants a sweet treat and I would rather that she has something a little more nutritious. So, we compromised and came up with a way for kids to create their own Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding with pudding cups and free printable labels! You can easily put this fun snack together to eat after school or as a surprise in their lunch boxes.
To make these Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding snacks, you'll of course need to start with some rich and creamy chocolate pudding. Pudding cups in both Chocolate and S'mores flavors are my favorite to use for this snack because the chocolate mixes well to make the "dirt" for our worms.
Now, to assemble your Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding! Open up the pudding cup and grab a couple of gummy worms. Next, smash up one Oreo into fine crumbs by placing the cookie in a baggie and rolling it over with a rolling pin or smack it with something. You could also use a food processor. Don't worry about removing the filling (unless you want to).
Pour the "dirt" on top of the pudding. You can leave the crumbs right on top, or start by adding a small amount and mix it in, then top it with the remaining crumbs. It's totally up to you!!
Carefully push the gummy worms into the "dirt". That's it! Now the Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding is ready to eat! Such a quick snack for parents to throw together, and a fun activity for kids! My daughter has a lot of fun creating and feels so independent putting her worm pudding together all on her own.
Adding crushed cookies might sound a little scary to send in a lunch box, but here's a fun way to package the Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding kit without the mess. Add a label to the pudding, and grab a plain, small sandwich bag (with no zipper at the top).
I found some small 1 ounce plastic cups at the store, and then I poured the cookie crumbs into the cup. If you can't find any cups, no problem! You can simply pour the crumbs right into the baggie. With all the crumbs in one corner of the bag, twist the bag and close with a twist tie*. Add the gummy worms into the bag above the twist tie, and then close the baggie again with another twist tie.
*If you don't have twist ties at home, you can easily make your own! Get some thin, bendable wire and cut a piece about 4 inches long. Place the wire in the center of some washi tape (on the sticky side), then fold the washi tape together lengthwise. Now you have twist ties with a fun washi tape design!!
Now your Wiggle Worm Dirt Pudding ingredients are sealed and portable! Kids can easily create their snack at lunchtime without making a huge mess.
While this snack is a great idea for lunchtime and after school, it would also be a really fun idea to use as a party favor at your next party!
