This post is brought to you by Consumer Crafts.

Creating handmade gifts for family and friends for Christmas is a lot of fun, and you can be sure that they won't be receiving the same gift from anyone else! You can also save big when you make handmade gifts. I spent about $10 on this DIY Memo Board, and did all my shopping at home online at Consumer Crafts!

To create this DIY Memo Board, you'll need:
Paint (I used DecoArt® Crafter's Acrylic™ Paint in Spun Gold and Americana Acrylics in Primary Blue)

First, I painted about 10 clothespins with the gold paint. Set them aside to dry.

Next, I painted the frame with a sponge brush (a regular brush would work fine, too). Painting the frame near the chalkboard and the chicken wire was a little tricky since neither one is removable. So, I folded a piece of paper and used it along the edges to block the chalkboard and wire from getting paint on them. It worked great!!

This is the board after one coat. As you can see, it's a little blotchy. I ended up painting about three coats to get it completely covered. Let each coat dry before adding another, and you might need a smaller brush to get in corners and harder to reach areas.

Once the frame is dry, add your clothespins to the chicken wire. I created some small cards with inspirational quotes since I believe everyone needs a reminder of how awesome they are!! I also figured out that if you use strong magnets, you can add one to the back and another to the front to hang other notes or reminders on the chalkboard!!

  1. Oh fun!

I would probably do a bunch of experimenting with the machine.

I have to say that Spun Gold is my most favourite acrylic paint colour. It looks so good on those clothespins!
