With only 4 ingredients, you can't go wrong! It is now our favorite pulled pork recipe. As long as you can remember to put it together in the morning, you will have a meal ready with minimal work after a busy day!
Ingredients:
Pork Roast {mine was about 2 1/2 -3 lbs}
1 can Pepsi or Diet Pepsi
1/2 bottle barbecue sauce {we love Sweet Baby Ray's}
Seasoning Salt
- Place roast in slow cooker and cover roast completely with seasoning salt.
- Pour Pepsi and barbecue sauce in a bowl and mix together. Pour over roast.
- Cook on low for at least 6 hours, even longer for more tender pork.{I have also tried this with a frozen roast and cooked on low for 10 hours. It was fantastic!}
- After 4 hours, take two forks and shred the pork.
- Let it sit and cook for the remaining time. The roast will soak up the flavor and tenderizes even more!
- Put on roll or bun and enjoy!!
YUM!! Thanks for sharing! I'm totally going to make this!! xoxo

ReplyDeleteCan you use caffine free soda?
ReplyDeleteWhat type of pork works best for this? (what cut)
ReplyDeleteI have this in the Crockpot right now, it's been in there for 4 and half hours so I went to pull it apart and it doesn't want to pull apart at all. My arms are so tired and I hardly got any pulled apart. Do you think I got the wrong kind of pork roast, it says it's a Pork Loin Top Loin Roast on the package (it was over a 5 lb roast, but it was sliced in half so, I only used half of it.) Do you think maybe it just needs to cook longer before trying to shred it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI would just wait a little bit longer if it's not shredding right after 4 hours. You can even stab it a few times to get the sauce inside the roast a little. Hope it turned out great for you!!
DeleteWell, I finally got it shredded, but I had to pull it apart with my fingers, the flavor was really good, but it took a really long time for the sauce to thicken, I think I should have used a more fatty cut of meat. My guess is the meat was so lean and wasn't absorbing the liquid. I'll definitely try it again with a different cut of pork roast.
DeleteType of roast isnt on the recipe & probably makes a difference. Shoulder/butt has a lot more marbling of fat so it would probably shred better than a loin roast. Also Sweet Baby Rays sauce comes in many sizes. Details can be important when posting a recipe. Please advise....
ReplyDeleteJust put it in the crockpot...Husband loves this!! Thank you
ReplyDeleteI do this with a can of Root Beer and I've done with Dr. Pepper too. I cook it and then drain it, shred it and put on the sauce and cook until it's warm too. So good!!!
