I've always looking for more creative birthday party ideas for birthdays. My daughter loves LEGO Friends, but we've missed her birthday by a few months. Instead, we decided to have a play date with a LEGO Friends theme, and I'm really excited to share some inspiration that will both save you money and guarantee a great time!
One thing I really love about the LEGO Friends line is encouragement for girls to get building using kits and their imagination. Sure, my daughter will play with any set of LEGOs, but these Friends have really inspired her to play more and she relates to the characters.
For a play date or a birthday party, you can purchase a set or two and let the kids build together. This encourages teamwork and we all know that LEGOs are always on the top of the list of things kids like to play with! The instructions in the Friends sets are simple to follow, and it's so fun watching a project come together.
The Heartlake Cupcake Café is too cute with all the cupcakes, flowers and bright colors!! It did take a little while to build, but it's totally worth it. The figures that come with the set are Stephanie and Naomi. They are adorable and a lot of fun to play with. You can even add a flower or hair bow in their hair and one can run the café while the other is making deliveries on the scooter. The cupcake café has all kinds of cupcakes you can build, and there's a lot you can interact with. See those colorful cupcakes in the shop window? You can totally spin that display around!!
Inside the cupcake café, there are even more fun details like a telephone, cash register, couch and table for guests to relax - and that yellow mixer is definitely one of our favorites!
Every bakery needs an oven, and this café is no exception. Naomi can easily bake a tray of cupcakes in the giant oven with working door and 'glass' windows on the sides so you can check to make sure they don't burn...
The addition of the outside seating in the café is the perfect spot for some friends to enjoy some treats and a full teapot of... apple juice (or whatever your kids decide their Friends figures want to drink)! The seats at the table swivel and you can fill the serving tray with cupcakes and cookies for them to enjoy.
The other set we put together is the Party Train! The set comes with everything you need to build wagons to attach to Stephanie's bicycle loaded with balloons. You can also build a playground for the hamsters, and a mailbox so you can pretend to send/receive a birthday invitation! The set also comes with a Stephanie figure, two hamsters as well as different color party hats for them to wear.
The mailbox door has a slot for you to send off mail, and it really opens and close so you can actually get the invitation out of the mailbox for Stephanie!
Who would have thought that hamsters would love a playground so much?! Heidi and Harry hamsters can climb the playhouse, go down the slide, and there's even a hamster water bottle for them to take a break.
Favors are always fun to put together for parties. I have designed some LEGO Friends bag toppers for you to put on top of Wilton Pretzel Bags that say "I'm Lucky to Have Friends Like You!". Fill up a cellophane bag with colorful goodies - like brick and LEGO figure chocolates (made with colored candy melts) using a silicone molds! I also added a sparkly pencil in case your guests want to take the word search home with them (and, really, who wouldn't love a sparkly pencil?!).
