We are finally leaving for a fun-filled Disneyland vacation this weekend! I am so excited to take my little princess!!! She will probably be scared of Mickey & everyone there {she's not a big fan of "mascot"-type characters...}, but I'm sure we are going to have a blast anyway!
Of course, she needs something fun and Disney-inspired to wear to the Happiest Place on Earth, so I decided to make her this Snow White top! I would have made it a dress, but I think a top is a little more functional for our overactive toddler...
I used a pattern similar to the shirt from her Fancy Little Outfit I made last year, but used fabrics to look more like Snow White's dress and also made it a little longer.
For a small size 2-3:
I used about 1/4 yard for the sleeves {light blue}
1/3 yard for the bodice/top section {dark blue}
1/2 yard for the skirt {yellow}
and used part of a red Fat Quarter
After cutting out the pattern, I cut strips of the red and sewed them onto the sleeve. Then with my mom's help, we sewed the dress together and eventually got it to fit my daughter perfectly!! {She's a skinny, tall little thing, so we had to take it in quite a bit...}
The finished top:
A closer look at the details:
and of course, we have to show it off the model:
She had to have a picture with her holding "Punzel"!
I love this one:
I told her to "smile, and show me your teeth!" So... she did.
How adorable!! I think a top is perfect. My girls are always tripping over the full dress. You'll have a great time at Disneyland. I'd love for you to share this at my link party. It runs Tues-Sat. http://adventuresofadiymom.blogspot.com/2012/02/terrific-tuesdays-4.html

Cute little top! I just may make one for my princess nieces! I love her little legs with the shin bruises, what a cutie!
ReplyDeleteAww, that's so cute. It looks great, as always!
ReplyDeleteYou did a beautiful job! She is just darling. We just got back from Disney and I made each of the girls a little dress. I cannot tell you the number of people that asked up about the dresses. I'll bet the same thing happens with that sweet little top! xo Diana

ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful little girl and she looks like a princess.
I Love this! How cleaver to modify the peasant style...it is more comfortable than the costumes for a toddler. And your little princess is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteI am your Linky follower now.
Have a great trip!

ReplyDeleteOh that is just adorable! We just got back from Disneyland 2 days ago and we had a blast! I am excited for your little gal to see all the princesses! My daughter is only 17 months and doesn't quite get the whole princess thing, and the whole time we were there I just kept thinking how I can't wait for the day that she does and its totally worthy it to wait 45 minutes for a few pictures with the princesses, when she will want to wear a princess dress every day we are there and we can eat with them at Ariel's Grotto! Little girls are just so fun! Have fun this weekend!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! This looks so great! I WISH I knew how to sew! I keep hinting about a machine. I'm sure once I get my hands on one I could teach my self a thing or two. With a princess of my own, it would be SO GREAT to make her dresses like this. Your lil girl looks absolutely precious in this! I HOPE y'all had a great time. Can't wait to hear about it!! I have a zillion Alie and "punzel" pics too! :)
