I am not a huge fan of s'mores, but everyone else I know does, so I wanted to try a new spin on a summer favorite!
They are SO easy, even the kids can help! Gotta love that.
Here's how you can make some, too!
1/4 cup margarine or butter1 10 oz bag marshmallows OR you can substitute 1 7 oz jar of marshmallow creme
5-6 cups crushed graham crackers, chunky or fine
I crushed up my graham crackers with a food processor, but it's easily done by hand. Some of my pieces were a bit chunkier, and I think the for this, finer may be better. It's really your preference though.
Melt butter completely in saucepan and then add marshmallows.
Stir until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended.

You can also cook these in the microwave: melt butter in microwave-safe bowl on high 45 seconds or until melted. Add marshmallows, stir to coat them all. Microwave another 1 1/2 minutes or until marshmallows are completely melted. Stir after 45 seconds.
These are basically Rice Krispie treats but with graham crackers instead of the cereal. Add graham crackers and mix well. Add graham crackers slowly, you may not need all the crackers you crushed.
You can then add the mixture into a greased 9x13 pan
I used a new silicone mold to make these a little more festive for the 4th of July!
Let cool.

Let cool.
Pop out of mold and arrange into a pan lined with wax paper.
Melt 2 cups of milk chocolate chips in microwave (med-high for 50 seconds) or put on double boiler.
Then you can cover stars completely (you may need more chocolate to do that) or dip the tops.
Place back in pan and let cool. You could also add sprinkles for a more festive look or put it on candy sticks for the kids!

And that's IT!! Told you it was easy!

SO FUN! I need marshmallows and a star mold ASAP!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I'm with you, though. I'd rather just make them as rice crispie treats (or peanut butter rice crispie treats!) and dip them in chocolate and eat them that way. I'm going to have to find a mold (Hobby Lobby?) and do this for my family 4th of July picnic!
ReplyDeleteCUTE i want some:)
